Why choose 3:6 Wellness Clinic’s Weight Loss Therapy program?

  • We acknowledge that each person's weight loss journey is unique. This approach takes into consideration not only physical needs but also lifestyle and dietary preferences.

  • Your team of experienced professionals will work with clients to develop a personalized treatment plan. This ensures that clients receive expert guidance and support.

  • The first visit will include lab work to test overall health, such as kidney, liver, and thyroid function. This helps identify potential underlying health issues that may affect weight loss. Clients will have the opportunity to discuss their medical history and concerns, enabling the team to tailor the program accordingly.

  • Personalized meal plans can be essential to any successful weight loss journey, ensuring that individuals have a structured and healthy eating plan. Providing dietary guidance is crucial for helping clients make healthier food choices and develop sustainable habits.

  • The program may include injections and weight loss supplements, which provide additional support where necessary.

  • Six week follow-up visits are essential for monitoring progress, explaining results, and adjusting the weight loss plan as needed. This ongoing support is crucial for keeping clients on track.

What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide, a GLP-1 Therapy, is a new FDA-approved weight loss treatment that assists with appetite control by allowing you to feel fuller faster, resulting in subsequent weight loss. Studies have shown a 15% to 20% reduction in body weight through weekly Semaglutide injections. It is a once-weekly injection that works by mimicking a peptide called GLP-1.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (or GLP-1) is a naturally occurring hormone secreted in the gut that targets multiple receptors throughout the body related to appetite and hunger. Semaglutide slows the rate at which your stomach empties, triggers insulin release, and inhibits a hormone that stimulates your liver to release sugar or glucagon. The effect is a decreased appetite, leading to less food intake and more weight loss.

Because it is NOT a stimulant, GLP-1 Therapy is a good solution for those who can’t take stimulant-based appetite suppressants such as phentermine. Stimulants are often not prescribed for patients with existing cardiovascular disease as they can complicate these conditions. Semaglutitide can reduce the risk of cardiovascular events while helping with weight loss.

GLP-1 Therapy can be prescribed for adults with a BMI of 30 or adults with a BMI of 27 and at least one weight-related (comorbidity), such as high cholesterol, hypertension, and insulin resistance. Semaglutide is for patients who want to lose weight, especially those with Type 2 Diabetes or whose weight puts them at risk of a severe cardiovascular event (like heart attack or stroke).

What is Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide is the first dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist, which works on the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors and the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors.

Tirzepatide works by stimulating the release of hormones such as insulin and glucagon, helping reduce hunger, decrease food intake, and promote fullness. Regulating appetite and promoting feelings of fullness help make it easier for patients to adhere to diet changes or calorie reduction, which can result in weight loss. Tirzepatide works by acting like these hormones and improving blood sugar control.

When the stomach empties itself of food, it sends signals of “fullness” to the brain. This process has a powerful appetite suppression effect based on the patient’s natural insulin production. This means patients can benefit from medically assisted weight loss without any need for invasive surgeries or harsh stimulants.

Tirzepatide is more effective at lowering blood sugar and weight loss in type 2 diabetes patients than Semaglutide, an injected GLP-1 receptor agonist, or two commonly used forms of insulin when used in this setting. At 3:6 Wellness Clinic, we use a compounded form of Tirzepatide to help preserve muscle mass while losing fat.

GIP/GLP-1 Therapy FAQs

  • GIP/GLP-1 Therapy is a medication that can help you reduce your appetite and slow down the rate at which food leaves your stomach. As a result, you will feel full for a longer time, making it easier to manage your weight. Almost anyone who is struggling with weight loss can consider taking GIP/GLP-1 Therapy. However, some common side effects of this medication include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, and constipation. In most cases, patients have reported improved side effects after four weeks of continuing the medication. However, like any medication, GIP/GLP-1 Therapy affects each individual differently.

  • GIP/GLP-1 Therapy is not recommended for anyone with a history of pancreatitis, Type 1 Diabetes, or if you or a family member has had thyroid cancer. A type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia should avoid the use of GIP/GLP-1 Therapy for weight loss.

  • For optimal results and long-term benefits, we highly recommend incorporating a reduced caloric meal plan, increasing physical activity, and moderate weight training while taking GIP/GLP-1 Therapy. Studies have shown that individuals who made dietary and lifestyle modifications had better long-term outcomes and maintained their weight loss.

It is essential to limit alcohol intake while taking GIP/GLP-1 Therapy, particularly in large quantities. GIP/GLP-1 Therapy and alcohol can affect your blood sugar levels. Consuming significant amounts of alcohol with GIP/GLP-1 Therapy may lead to an unsafe drop in your blood sugar levels.

  • GIP/GLP-1 Therapy is a weight loss aid that has been approved for use alongside a healthy diet and exercise regimen. As part of this lifestyle change, it is recommended that individuals maintain a daily food diary and strive to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, grass-fed meats, pasture-raised eggs, and fiber into their meals. While taking GIP/GLP-1 Therapy, it is important to increase protein intake to prevent muscle loss. Additionally, it is advisable to limit foods and beverages that are high in or contain added sugars, saturated fats, and salt, while increasing water consumption.
